Vision-Driven Leadership Self Assessment

Rate yourself on the each of the following statements on a scale of 1 to 5 where 1 = not at all and 5 = very much so.  If you feel courageous, circulate these questions and ask your employees and co-workers to rate you.

Am I clear on what I want and where I want to go?

  1. I have a clear sense of what is important to me (my values).
     
  2. I have a clear sense of who I am (my identity/strengths).
     
  3. I have a clear sense of how I want to contribute (purpose).
     
  4. I have a clear sense of where I am going (direction).
     
  5. I have a clear sense of my vision for my life (what I want to create).
     
  6. I take a proactive approach to my life, rather than a reactive approach.

Are my actions in alignment with my vision?

  1. My goals are in line with my direction and vision.
     
  2. My strategies and tactics are in line with my vision.
     
  3. I align with other people who support me as I move towards my vision.
     
  4. I consistently make choices that move me towards my vision.

Am I a positive influence?

  1. I engage others in a way that shows I am interested in what is important to them.
     
  2. I am able to articulate what is important to me in a way that is passionate and authentic, inspiring and energizing.
     
  3. I have confidence in my ability to create alignment with others without using positional power, or force.

Do I bring out the best in others?

  1. I focus on the best in others - acknowledging their strengths frequently.
     
  2. I see it as important to offer to coach, mentor, and provide feedback to others.
     
  3. I foster environments that reward learning and risk taking.
     
  4. I allow people to see both my strengths and my vulnerabilities.

Am I being my best?

  1. I am clear about what I am like when I am operating at my best.
     
  2. I invite people to give me feedback on how they are experiencing me.
     
  3. I reflect regularly on my strengths and shortcomings with a focus on how I can be better.
     
  4. I operate from a learner mindset - open to learning rather than making judgments about myself, situations, or others.
     
  5. I don’t let voices of doubt or self-criticism stop me from doing what is most important to me.
     
  6. I have the courage to take actions that move me out of my comfort zone.
     
  7. I have the courage to be myself no matter where I am or who I am with.
